Working closely with UEFA Club Competitions SA's (UCCSA) own experienced legal team, it is our job to ensure that every agreement reflects the letter and the spirit of the commercial proposition and, at the same time, builds trust with UCCSA’s commercial partners. As well as taking the lead in the preparation of all transaction-related documentation, the Legal team plays a crucial supporting role in developing the commercial concept, managing transactions throughout the sales cycle and delivering contracted rights.
The role
The primary focus of the Legal Counsel Marketing Rights role is to provide expert legal support and take responsibility for the commercialisation of sports marketing rights relating to the UEFA Men’s Club Competitions. You will take the initiative in a wide variety of tasks and be given the opportunity to take the lead on projects. You will be part of the Legal department, reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel for Marketing Rights.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Supporting the evolution and management of TEAM’s standard marketing rights legal documentation (such as sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, brand services agreements and related guidelines).
- Drafting and negotiating sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, documentation related to sponsorship and licensing agreements, brand services and other services agreements.
- Supporting TEAM’s Marketing Sales department with the execution of fast-moving sales processes and providing broad legal advice and solutions-based recommendations to TEAM’s Marketing Sales and Partnership Management departments.
- Supporting the management of TEAM’s legal knowledge portfolio, ensuring the team has high-quality, up-to-date materials.
- Monitoring legal developments in key markets, assisting with research and the procurement of external counsel opinions and implementing appropriate solutions.
The candidate
As a result of your post-qualification work experience (a minimum of three years) you are skilled in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. You have handled sponsorship and licensing agreements or are currently engaged in a different practice area but wish to practice in the sports marketing rights sector. You have a demonstrable interest in the sports industry and the sports marketing rights business, and have the ability to maintain the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality. It is important that you can efficiently manage both requests and your time, balancing multiple tasks and prioritising them accordingly. You have a proven track record of working under pressure to tight deadlines. Finally, you possess strong academic qualifications including a university degree and professional legal qualification, such as registration on the roll or admission to the bar of the relevant jurisdiction. A solid knowledge of Swiss law is a plus.

The position will be based at TEAM’s Lucerne office and will involve some international travel.
